CDCP Government Coverage

Affordable Dental Care for Eligible Canadians

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal initiative designed to make dental care more affordable for eligible Canadian residents. It offers coverage for various oral health services, including preventive care, restorative treatments, and more.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age Groups: Seniors aged 65 and over, children under 18, and adults with a valid federal Disability Tax Credit certificate for 2023 are currently eligible to apply.

  • Income Threshold: The plan is intended for individuals and families with low-to-moderate incomes who don't have access to private or workplace dental insurance.

Application Process:

Applications are being accepted in phases. Eligible individuals can apply online through the official government portal.

Covered Services:

The CDCP covers a comprehensive range of dental services, including:

  • Preventive Services: Routine check-ups and cleanings.

  • Restorative Services: Permanent and temporary fillings, treatments for cavities, and more.

  • Endodontic Services: Root canal treatments and procedures to treat infected or broken teeth.

  • Periodontal Services: Treatments for gums and bone, including cleaning under the gumline and managing gum disease.

  • Major Services: Crowns, dentures, and other significant dental procedures, some of which may require preauthorization.

Additional Information:

The CDCP is not intended to replace existing dental coverage. Individuals with existing coverage through government programs may still qualify, with coordination between plans to ensure comprehensive coverage.
